How are MC³ threshold scores calculated?

Within MC³, manager scores are benchmarked against valuable thresholds by overall score, element, and sub-element. If a manager’s overall MC³ score sets them above the threshold for a set benchmark, they are recognised as achieving that level of Accreditation.

The thresholds at which point a manager can be considered a One To Watch, 1 star, 2 star or 3 star manager are as follows:

Accreditation rating MC3 Overall Score
3 82.58
2 76.71
1 71.46
OTW 65.34

Within each Accreditation rating benchmark, in the same way manager scores breakdown into elements and sub-elements, there are set thresholds for the four elements. The element threshold scores are an average of all the statements from the survey which are linked to them. The sub-element threshold scores are an average of the statements which are linked to them.

It is important to note that the element threshold within each benchmark is not a combination of its sub-elements. As these sub-elements are not a product of factor analysis, the most accurate overall element thresholds are still produced by averaging from statement, rather than sub-element, level. This prevents sub-elements with fewer statements contributing more per statement, as every statement is weighted equally. For example, the"Considering" element is calculated directly from the scores of all of the survey statements linked to it, and isn’t a combination of its sub-element scores e.g. "Recognising" and "Supporting"). Sub-elements are instead used to help focus attention in a more granular way on to more specific behaviours.
